We are a member of the special interest group Young Learners English UK, working to raise the standards of all junior vacation courses in the UK.
*Individual students booking the residential option must be aged 12+. Adult students may also be present in the school and lessons may be taught off-site at peak times.
A typical day learning English in Manchester
On the junior language programme in Manchester you will experience English in a variety of contexts, from classroom learning to interactive social activities and excursions.
In the morning you will join fellow English language students** in a class that is adapted to your level of English. You will improve your speaking, reading, listening and writing skills through a variety of interactive classroom activities, covering exciting topics like British culture, entertainment, clothes and fashion, or music.
You will get a break half way through your lessons.
After lunch, you will have afternoon activities such as sports, arts and crafts, or treasure hunts. For 2-3 afternoons a week you will be taken on afternoon excursions in and around Manchester**, giving you the opportunity to practise your English language skills in real-life contexts around the city in places such as the Football Museum or the Sea Life Centre.
Every evening after dinner you will get to socialise with your friends as well as meet other students at the evening social activity.
Led by our fun and enthusiastic Activity Leaders, the evening activity is different each night and varies from quiz nights and discos to film nights, fashion shows and scavenger hunts!
Please note, homestay students will participate in 2 evening activities and residential students will participate in 7 evening activities.

**Our Manchester young learner centre operates on a zig-zag format, so depending on the week you join, you will start with either morning or afternoon classes. For example, if you have morning classes in your first week, you will have afternoon classes in your second week, and so on.
In Manchester you can choose to stay in en-suite rooms at the nearby university residence or in homestay accommodation with local hosts. Homestay accommodation is only available for students aged 14-17.
Live in a student residence with high-quality single en-suite rooms, where overnight supervision is provided by dedicated Young Learner staff.
