At the start and end of every day you will meet at Edinburgh Language Centre for classroom preparation and feedback, and for the rest of the day you will be completing projects in and around the city of Edinburgh, at exciting locations such as the Botanic Gardens, the Old City Observatory, Edinburgh Castle and Arthur’s Seat!
On your Edinburgh Live Programme, you will:
• Learn English through immersive and interactive projects
• Put your communication skills to the test through interacting with real Scottish people
• Visit secret locations, create works of street art and discover the best views of the city, creating your own projects and carrying out a series of investigations whilst taking charge of your own learning experiences
• Create a video based on a weekly theme, using audio clips, videos and blog entries to build your very own e-portfolio throughout the course
• Build your confidence, becoming more independent both as a learner and as an individual
• Begin and end each day in the classroom, giving you the opportunity to prepare for the day ahead and discuss your progress

A typical day learning English on the Edinburgh Live programme
On the Edinburgh Live Young Learners programme you will experience English through real-life scenarios and immersive projects at exciting locations in and around the city of Edinburgh, developing a different portfolio of creative work each week!
In the morning you will meet with your group at Edinburgh Language Centre, where you will prepare for the day’s activities. Here you will have the chance to ask any questions about the activities to come or your portfolio.
Throughout the morning you will visit two different Edinburgh locations, such as museums or outdoor spaces, where you will complete interactive activities on-site. Each activity is related to a certain theme for the week to help you develop your creative portfolio, and all activities are designed to help you practise your English in real-life contexts.
Every day you will get a mid-morning break.
After lunch you will embark on the second phase of your language learning for the day, heading out to a third exciting location! Here you will complete a new round of activities and challenges, getting to know another key area of Edinburgh and developing your communication skills as you go.
On the last afternoon of every week, you will have time to prepare your e-portfolio and present your work to the rest of the group.
At the end of every day, you will return to Edinburgh Language Centre for a final round-up of the day’s activities. Here you will get to discuss your experiences from the day, what you enjoyed, what you found difficult, and how you are progressing on your project.
For three evenings a week, you will get to relax and socialise with your friends after dinner with your homestay host. Led by our fun and enthusiastic Activity Leaders, the evening activities vary from fun Ceilidhs to evening city tours or discos. You will spend the remaining evenings with your homestay host, experiencing Edinburgh life in an authentic environment.
While at the school you will have access to:
