A typical day learning English at our York school
Every day our friendly team of staff are ready to welcome you with a warm hello! Here is a typical day learning English in York:
In the mornings you will have 2-3 lessons of tuition. Each lesson lasts 50 minutes, and there is a mid morning break where you will have time to enjoy a coffee, catch up with fellow classmates or ask our staff any questions you might have.
Every week, you will take a progress test as part of your class, to check how your English skills are developing and evaluate which areas of improvement you need to focus on for the week ahead.
If you are taking a course of 25-30 lessons per week, you will also have afternoon classes. Such courses include intensive General English, IELTS Preparation, General English Plus One-to-One TOEIC or TOEFL Preparation or Cambridge Exam Preparation.
Afternoon classes run from 14.00-16.15 from Monday to Thursday with a break in between. If you are studying electives, you can choose to study for two afternoons per week, including Monday and Wednesday, or Tuesday and Thursday.
Afternoon-only classes are also available for General English 15 students to help you fit studies around your personal commitments.
Every week we run various different social activities led by a member of the school team, giving you the opportunity to discover new places, make new friends, and practise your English!
Some activities are free and others incur an additional cost. If you were to take part in all activities throughout the week, you can expect to pay £12-£20 per week.

Recently voted Britain’s 2nd Best City by national newspaper, The Telegraph, York is one of the oldest cities in Britain. It is a place of culture and history, reflected in its winding cobbled streets and beautiful architecture, such as the famous York Minster.
At the same time, it is also a bustling and dynamic city, with a busy cafe, bar, pop culture and restaurant scene. This contrast of old and new is a big advantage for our students, offering you the best of England’s past and present in one go.
Our exciting social programme are designed to show you the best of York, ranging from cultural activities such as museums and historic venues, to more active events like bowling, as well as cinema and theatre trips, restaurant nights and pub nights.
Other activities you can enjoy in York include river cruises, festivals, breath-taking views on the Wheel of York or along the river.
