Mornings

In the mornings, you will have three hours of tuition from 09.00 until 12.30. You will get a mid-morning break with time to grab a coffee at the many nearby local coffee shops, chat to fellow classmates or ask our staff any questions you might have.

Every week, you will take a progress test as part of your class, to check how your English skills are developing and evaluate which areas of improvement you need to focus on for the week ahead. We also incorporate learner-training and pronunciation exercises through all levels.

Afternoons

If you are taking a 20- or 25-hour course you will also have afternoon classes, available for Combination Course students taking Business English, IELTS, or Academic English. You can also choose to take an additional five hours a week of reading and writing classes and/or five hours a week of speaking and listening classes.

Afternoon classes run from Monday to Friday. On Friday, lessons finish at 14.30, giving you a free afternoon to explore Edinburgh with new friends, or even take a weekend trip out to the Highlands or neighbouring cities like Stirling or Glasgow!

Evenings

Edinburgh has a fantastic social programme, offering extra-curricular activities from Monday to Friday. Ranging from Edinburgh city tours to Ceilidhs (Scottish dancing), Quiz Nights to Conversation Clubs in the pub or at the park, there are plenty of social activities to enjoy.

All activities are led by a member of the school team, giving you the chance to get to know us better, and vice versa!

Some activities are free and others incur an additional cost. If you were to take part in all activities throughout the week, you can expect to pay £15-£30 per week.

Edinburgh Language Centre offers excellent facilities including:

  • 14 modern classrooms, all of which have interactive projectors or interactive whiteboards
